Preclinical 2P microscopy: from characterizing pathological neuroinflammation to understanding the restorative effect of light and electric fields on the CNS
Abstract: Since 2014, INT’s IMAPATH team has established and characterized an original line of multifluorescent mice to study neuroinflammatory processes, while promoting 2P spectral microscopy as an exceptional preclinical imaging modality. Our methodological efforts to longitudinally visualize and characterize the recruitment of individual immune cells in situ in the same animal have led to fundamental observations on their phenotypic evolution in the pathological CNS. By presenting a selection of our latest key results in two models of pathologies (SCI and EAE), I will highlight why the synergy between the P3M and IMAPATH teams offers the new MRS team a unique opportunity to study the impact of neuroinflammation on post-traumatic spasticity. As part of a CIFRE collaboration with REGEnLIFE and a multi-institute Carnot Star project, we are seeking to understand why external electromagnetic waves combined with physical exercise can promote functional recovery in paraplegic patients.
