Women in Science: what and how do we do at CNRS?

Abstract: CNRS is actively committed to gender equality. For more than 20 years, the Mission pour la place des femmes au CNRS (Mission for women share at CNRS), and the more recently created parité-égalité (gender equality) committee, have played a decisive role in this commitment, identifying bottlenecks and proposing an action plan that the CNRS is now implementing. Three themes in particular will be developed during this presentation:

• The existence of gender stereotypes affecting the attractiveness and development of scientific careers for women.
• Measures taken at CNRS to improve equal treatment of men and women in careers (recruitment, assessment, promotion, assumption of responsibilities, etc.).
• The need to take account of sex and gender in the conduct of research (through examples in biology), to avoid androcentric influence on research results.
