Abstract: This thesis is dedicated to explore vocal perception and the underlying cognitive mechanisms. Voices, omnipresent in our daily lives, are essential for communication, carrying non-verbal information such as identity, gender, and emotion of our peers. The study of human and non-human primates reveals common
traits in vocal processing. By combining neuroimaging, computational modeling, and a vocalization database, this thesis enhances our understanding of vocal processing, shedding light on the origins of human language and offering new perspectives in auditory neuroscience.
